For more than twenty years, a group of ladies has gathered at Berea Friendship every week to serve the Lord with needles and thread. Our Quilters work tirelessly to create handpieced, handstitched quilts which they sell to raise money for ministry needs and mission projects. Each quilt takes approximately 400-600 (wo)man-hours to complete, depending on the size of the quilt and the pattern involved. Besides their own projects, the Quilters take custom orders, and complete quilt tops that others have assembled or inherited from loved ones. While most of those gathered work on quilting, a few women focus on crafts and other sewing projects instead. Those items, along with baked goods, canned goods, frozen casseroles, and much more, are sold at the Quilter’s annual Christmas Bazaar, held the first weekend in November in the church gym.
If you enjoy quilting, sewing, or crafting, the Quilters would love to have you join them. You do not need to be a member of Berea Friendship United Methodist Church to be a Quilter; ladies from several churches are long-time members of this talented and devoted group. Come on down and get in on the fun; you’ll have a great time and will be using your talents for the glory of the Lord.
