The current president of BFUMC’s United Methodist Women is Vickie Failor.
The Morning Circle will not meet during the month of July.
The Shalom Circle will meet on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Mama Maria’s (12:00 noon) We will have a short devotional and work on our shut in mission project.
Our prayer focus for July is on Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi, a historically black college southeast of Memphis. They are the second oldest university in the state and one of only 10 schools established before 1868 that is still operating today.
Their 5 divisions of study are education, humanities, business, social sciences, and mathematics. The most popular majors are biology, computer science, and business administration. They operate on a module system. This is an eight week semester class system which allows the school to enroll a steady stream of transfer students every eight weeks.
Their student – faculty ratio is 20 – 1 and 42% of the staff have obtained a PhD.
Methodist bishop, Alexander Preston Shaw (1879-1966) is a noted alumni of Rust University.
Their motto reads “By their fruits Ye shall know them” and their vision statement is as follows – “Our vision for the future reflects an institution of teaching and learning, internal and external to the classroom. Students will come to prepare for careers while living and studying in an environment that nurtures academic and personal development.”
Birthday cards will be sent to missionaries Jana Marie Whitten in New Hampshire and Colleen Caldwell in Arkansas.
