Berea Friendship United Methodist Church

October 2017

From the desk of Rev. Gordon
“Jesus said: ‘Everything is possible for him who believes.’” Mark 9:23

Blessings to you and your family on this great day that the Lord has made, as always it’s a blessing each time I am able to address you in writing, I pray that as you are reading this letter it finds you and your family in the best of health. I am excited to be your pastor, this past quarter was a fast moving quarter for the church, we were stretched in many ways but together as a church we rose to the occasion. Thank you for the support you gave us as we went out to mission in our community and as we helped Victor United Methodist Church in the community of Greer minister to their young people.
Our charge conference was a success this year as always; and I want to give a personal thanks to all of you who work so diligently in completing the necessary forms, I also want to thank the committee on nominations and leadership development for the hard work they did in completing our nomination process, I am looking forward to a new year of leadership with those who were appointed for the first time to lead the church. I am excited about what I see happening in the congregation and I am looking forward to our continual growth as the body of Christ. As we look forward to a new charge conference year I want to invite you to continue in prayer for the following:

  • The direction in which God is leading the church to do ministry in the church, in the community, and the world
  • The people God will send our way to be in ministry with us
  • The new and existent ministries that will be the cornerstone of Berea Friendship Church

Our goals for the upcoming conference year September 25, 2017 to next charge conference are:

  • Work intentionally in developing relationships with our three local elementary schools in our mission field (Berea Elementary, Armstrong Elementary, and Cherrydale Elementary)
  • Increase our visibility in the community by getting involved with the people so that they will know that God’s love is available to them
  • Continue to work with our Mission Congregation (Esperanza) to develop opportunities to minister together

Through the Holy Spirit, God continually reaches out to us and daily gives us his love, grace, and mercy. In looking forward to this next year of pastoral leadership here at Berea Friendship, my hope and vision for this year is that together we can continue to work in fulfilling the vision God has for us here at the church and community. A vision to see all of God’s children grow mentally, emotionally, physically, financially, and above all spiritually in Jesus Christ!
In closing as always I invite you to stay prayerful and to consistently pray for yourself, your family, your church, and the leadership of the church. Remember Jesus’ words in the gospel of Mark chapter nine and verse twenty-three; ‘Everything is possible for him who believes.’

Yours in Christ,

Enrique R. Gordon
